.........BHUBANESWAR: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Tuesday questioned businessman Satpal Singh over the employment of a minor girl as a domestic help in their house.
The girl died in a fire mishap in the house on August 3 along with Satpal’s younger son and his family. Satpal Singh told the CWC members that the 15-year-old was working in his house as a domestic help for the last five months.
Since the businessman had employed a minor girl, CWC members have asked him to bear the entire education and health care expenses of the victim’s 10-year-old sister, six-year-old brother and four-year-old sister.
While the victim’s 10-year-old sister will enter high school, her two other siblings will be enrolled in an English medium school. Satpal will also bear the transportation expenses of the two children who will study in an English medium school.
“We have asked Singh to pay `2, 000 per month to the victim’s 10-year-old sister for her high school education and to pay `4, 000 per month for her studies after Class - X. We have also asked him to bear the expenses of her higher education,” CWC member Benudhar Senapati, said, adding that the businessman has agreed to all their conditions.CWC members have also asked Satpal to provide a job to the victim’s mother in one of his establishments.
