.........BHUBANESWAR: The Rs.31.75 crore State Action Plan (SAP) for Police Modernisation has been ratified by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
A high power panel of the MHA approved the State Action Plan apart from the Supplementary Action Plan of `6.35 crore on August 17. Apart from emphasis on anti-Maoist operations, the State Action Plan is also focused on improved training facilities in the State. For a 66,000-strong police force, existing infrastructure of Odisha Police can provide training to just five per cent although the yardstick is for 10 per cent of the strength.
Similarly, the action plan also includes strengthening its weaponry. District Police will be provided a number of rubber bullets for law and order situation. Similarly, communication gadgets, equipment for Crime Branch and forensic labs.
