.........ANGUL: HE clinched seventh rank in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) entrance, but that has failed to bring smile on his face. Sagar Pradhan, who comes from a financially weak background, is worried about his future.Sagar of nondescript Baluakata village near Angul, secured third position in the university in BSc and to fulfil his dream of pursuing MSc, he started preparing for IIT entrance and secured seventh rank. Sagar said, “I need around ` 3 lakh for studying in IIT-Mumbai, for which I have been selected, but my family is too poor to afford it.”
Sagar’s father was a casual worker in Nalco and is jobless now. The family does not have landed property to fall back on. The last date for taking admission in IIT-Mumbai is July 15, he added.
Angul Collector Anil Kumar Samal donated `20,000 from District Red Cross and appealed to others to help the meritorious student.
“I have asked public sector companies here to help Sagar pursue higher studies”, Samal said.
