.........CUTTACK: The newborn conjoined sisters Ganga and Jamuna, who were admitted to Sishu Bhawan here on Friday, have been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the premier paediatric hospital of the State on Sunday.
The conjoined twins were shifted to ICU for better observation, said Sishu Bhwan Superintendent Dr Saroj Satapathy. “We have conducted some preliminary tests like CT Scan, ultrasound etc. Nothing can be said regarding the status of their vital organs as the test reports are yet to come,” he said.Due to Sunday, some other necessary investigations could not be performed on the day. Those would be conducted on Monday, Dr Satapathy informed.
The twin sisters joined at chest and abdomen were born to Kishore and Sumitra Dutta of Khalipatana under Sarankula police station in a private nursing home on Friday. As their condition was not good, the nursing home had referred the girls to Sishu Bhawan.
Authorities of Sishu Bhawan on Saturday had formed a special team of 12 doctors headed by Dr PK Jena, HoD, Paediatric Surgery Department, to provide treatment to the twins.
Health Minister Pratap Jena, who visited Sishu Bhawan on Saturday to take stock of their health condition, had assured that the State Government would extend all help and assistance towards their treatment.
